Tank Specifications

All Upton tanks are manufactured with SA 36 carbon steel or Stainless Steel plate. All seams are 100% welded and structurally reinforced with angle bracing. An internal baffle is provided to prevent entrained air and turbulent water from entering the pump suction connection(s). The tank is supplied with FPT connections for water make-up, overflow, drain and pump suction(s). The pump suctions are supplied with a welded vortex eliminator and removable pump suction screen. Each tank is completely leak tested prior to the application of interior and exterior coatings. All surfaces are media blasted to SP-10 on the interior and SP- 6 on the exterior. The standard Upton Tanks coating is Carboline Carbogard 891. The interior coating is 10-15 mils DFT and the exterior coating is 5-7 mils DFT. (Product Data Specifications available upon request).

Custom Sizes Available
Stainless Steel construction either SA 304 (L) or SA 316 (L). Material is passivated after welding prior to shipping.
Brass water make-up valve with adjustable brass float and guide rods and high buoyancy plastic float ball
Ultrasonic level switch and controller which provides non-contact level detection. 4-20 mA output available.
Metal covers with handles and return piping cutouts to prevent foreign material from entering the tank. These covers are manufactured using 14 ga. steel reinforced with angle.
Polycarbonate sight glass with guard rods and valves
Variety of connections including FPT, ANSI Flanges and Vitaulic grooved fittings.

This table is used to select the size of the sump suction connection. Find the column that shows a GPM not less than the design pump rate and read vertically to locate the minimum allowable pump suction connection size.

This table is used to select the size of the sump water make-up valve. Select the corresponding size to suit the evaporative coolers’ requirements (ie. evaporation losses,and blow down and bleed.)
